Jun Wu is a Professor and Doctoral Supervisor at the School of Computer Science, Fudan University. President of the ACM Shanghai Chapter, Chair of the IEEE ComSoc Multimedia Communications Technical Committee (MMTC), and Executive Director of the Shanghai Computer Society. Main research areas include: key technologies in wireless networks, such as communication signal processing, wireless resource management, and cloud access networks; artificial intelligence and machine learning, including unsupervised learning methods like Generative Adversarial Networks (GANs) and Variational Autoencoders (VAEs), as well as reinforcement learning; image and video processing and transmission; embedded system software and hardware technologies, including deep learning processors.

He has published over 200 papers in international journals and conferences, with more than 100 papers indexed by SCI. He has received 3 Highly Cited ESI papers and Best Paper Awards at international conferences. He has applied for and been granted over 70 domestic and international invention patents, with nearly 50 patents authorized. In recent years, he has led several major projects, including the National Key R&D Program “Transformative Technology Key Scientific Issues” (1 project), National Natural Science Foundation Key Projects (1 project), major project topics (1 project), regional joint fund key project topics (1 project), and general projects (2 projects). He has also led two sub-projects under the National Major Science and Technology Special Project “New Generation Broadband Wireless Mobile Communication Networks” and one sub-project under the National Science and Technology Support Program. He has received numerous awards, including the 2022 Shanghai Science and Technology Progress First Prize (First Contributor), the 2018 Shanghai Technology Invention First Prize (First Contributor), the 2017 Ministry of Education Technology Invention First Prize (First Contributor), and the 2018 China Electronics Society Natural Science Second Prize (Third Contributor).

Currently, he serves as an editorial board member for international journals such as IEEE Network, IEEE Internet of Things Journal, and Digital Communications and Networks. He has also served as an editorial board member for IEEE Transactions on Multimedia, IEEE Wireless Communications Letters, and the Journal of Communications. He has chaired international conferences, including the 2020 10th International Conference on Communications and Networking in China (CHINACOM 2020), served as the Program Committee Chair for the 2019 IEEE International Conference on Multimedia and Expo (ICME), chaired the Communications Software, Services, and Multimedia Applications Symposium at the 2016 IEEE GLOBECOM, and served as the Program Committee Chair for the 2015 10th International Conference on Communications and Networking in China (CHINACOM 2015).
